Tuesday, April 24th Doors at 5pm. 95 min. Rated MA-14 Free. Humboldt County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council Prevention Committee presents…Audrie & Daisy A sobering documentary showing teenage girls in the U.S. being survivors of sexual assault by their male classmates/friends. It also covers the unfortunate trend that the system tends to minimize or even dismiss these cases, resulting in the victimized girls not receiving justice. To make matters worse, these girls often ended up getting bullied (both in school as well as online) for being rape survivors. Humboldt County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council Prevention Committee presents…Audrie & Daisy A compelling documentary film examining the ripple effects on families, friends, schools and communities when two underage young women are the target of sexual assault crimes. The movie brings to light the startling realization that sexual assault is not only an epidemic on college campuses, but is fast becoming a sad reality in high schools all over the country. The film takes a hard look at America’s teenagers who are navigating an increasingly complicated sexual culture and coming of age in the world of social media, where everything is documented and shared.
