There once was a dreamy-eyed lass and only punk rock and hardcore could make her shake her a$$. One day she was walking around the block when she heard a boombox play hip hop. She started dancing and yelling YAAAAY but fell over and landed in a pile of dancehall-reggae. Reggae covered her eyes and face when she meandered into a basement playing drum and bass. This music made her dance and shake her back until she thought she’d have a heart attack. Then an unknown mysteriously deep bass sound led her into a secret room where dubstep was abound. Deciding she’d already fallen in love with enough musics in this one day, she finally went home and had dreams of getting thizz faced and riding the whip with Mac Dre. Going stoopid doo-doo dumb on the stage with the likes of ___insert name dropping dopeness here____ Smasheltooth intends to integrate inner-city raps with privileged producer slaps and spread musical butter over rumps across the globe in the name of Furl! Things are about to go from bad to worse as in an attempt to impress a pretty girl he lights the candle of black, and ressurects the Sanderson witches. Aba used to deejay on ‘Jah Tubby’s’ sound system
and at that time he was known as ‘Jasmine Joe’.
Those of you that were around the sound system scene in the eighties will remember the slightly extrovert mic man that ‘Jah Tubby’s’ had; that was Aba.
When Joe embraced the Rastafarian faith he adopted a new and more positive attitude and with his rediscovered faith a new name.
That name was and is ‘Aba Shanti-I’,pronounced ABA SHANTI-EYE not ONE.
So you see the name ‘Aba Shanti-I’ is not just the name of the sound system, it is the name of the person that is playing the sound.
Over the last 10 years Aba has been playing his sound, and the music created by his brother Blood Shanti on that sound, in small and large halls throughout this country and in the process has developed a following covering the widest spectrum of Jah’s humanity. Black/ White/ Asian /Young /The Not So Young /Rastafarians /Bald head /Dread.
All races. All creeds. All genders.
We don’t segregate, we integrate.
They come because an ‘Aba Shanti-I ‘ session is synonymous
with a vibe and a feeling.
No one at an Aba session is made to feel strange.
It is not about what you look like, it’s about who you are and what is in your heart!
People come to discard their worries and to lose themselves in the music and by doing so cast off
the mental shackles from their mind and the yolk from around their shoulders, find themselves, be at peace and be free.
The vibe that Aba generates has brought him to the attention of the media on a worldwide basis and he has been the subject of numerous articles in domestic and foreign magazines.
In the last 3 years we (Aba Shanti-I & Falasha recordings) have been the subject of 3 television programmes.
1 German ‘Deep in Dub’,1 French ‘Aba at Carnival’ and 1 domestic ‘Urban Rites’ Big Issue Film Unit Series.
This has resulted in ‘The Aba Shanti-I’ sound system and ‘The Shanti-ites’ live band being invited to tour Europe on a number of occasions to bring the vibe to a larger audience.
Everywhere we have played we have been greeted by enthusiastic patrons who have been so happy to be ‘experiencing the fullness’ of ‘Aba Shanti-I’ and ‘The Shanti-Ites’ live and direct and in their own backyard
With 4 big vinyl releases in the last 2 years, and having played parties in Italy, Poland, Morocco, California, Switzerland, France, Hungary, Malta, The International Dub Gathering and the Dub Camp, Habesha is hitting the dub scene with full force!!! Growing up in a small village in Southern Italy with traditional country values started Habesha off in life with strong principles. Her classical piano training was a challenge at the time, but now expresses in a new frequency. As a young adult spending years in the good vibes of Italy’s underground Bass Music party scene she eventually found Dub Reggae and naturally Rastafari… Moving to the UK to find a new path in life she got deeper into the music and faith as she learned the English language. Habesha’s first official vinyl release came in 2015 on german label JahSoulJah Records with tunes like “I Am An Ethiopian”, by Joseph Lalibela (UK) and “Hold Pon Rasta Faith”, by Fitta Warri (JA). In 2016 Italian Roots Cooperation label released “What Dem Done” featuring Vale B, and Ben Alpha’s Steppas Records put out “Jah Voice” featuring Italo-Senegalese rising star Sista Awa. Sista Habesha’s record label is now ready with many releases featuring vocalists like Arkaingelle, Afrikan Simba, Ras Biblical, Prince David, Joshua Hales, Jules I, Luv Fyah, Ras Amlak and more. Likewise she is available for sound system and DJ set bookings. With a sweetness and musicality often not heard in Dub music, when combined with her raw militant drums and driving basslines her productions have a powerful impact. Representing for female musicians everywhere Habesha aims to inspire a new generation of empowered feminine creativity in yet another male dominated industry… Through hard work, good principles, and powerful yet beautiful music Habesha’s special expression of reggae music is sure to touch the soul and inspire positivity and progression… LISTEN UP!!!
Uniting an Afro-Caribbean perspective with the ever strengthening, pro-African voice of Ras Tafari, Arkaingelle’s blazing vocals and meditative lyrics have been resounding thunderously within the cultural reggae scene from Brazil to Britain, South Africa to South America and from the East Coast to the West Coast of the United States. Arkaingelle delivers heavyweight roots music with a spiritual message and an energetic frequency which when combined, have been seen to captivate, uplift, inspire and bring joy to a broad diversity of audiences.
Hailing from Buxton, Friendship Village in Guyana, South America, Arkaingelle (aka Roxroy ‘Mykal’ Younge) was raised by christian grandparents in a modest village home. . .

Emerging from his own distinct corner of the West Coast electronic music scene, Random Rab offers a powerful and unique contribution to sonic exploration. Often referred to as “The Master of Emotion” his music is patently beautiful and melodic. With diverse influences ranging from trip-hop, classical and Arabic to bass driven compositions, his songs are considered anthemic and timeless. As a multi-instrumentalist and singer, his tracks are organic, uplifting and stand on their own as a distinct genre. Listeners of all types of music can find something they can relate to in his sound. He has toured extensively across North America, including tours with Bassnectar, Shpongle, Emancipator, Beats Antique, and has headlined dozens festivals across the U.S. and internationally.
There is no doubt that Rab understands a multitude of musical styles. He has been the front man of a heavy metal band, toured as a classical trumpet player, played bass in a country music band, was a scratch DJ for a jazz fusion project, was the singer for a rock band in Mexico and has collaborated with countless musicians of all styles. From acoustic performances in the Himalayas to rocking packed clubs in New York, Random Rab has found a way to connect with people of all kinds.
With a dedicated fanbase born from the San Francisco underground, Random Rab has become known world wide for his sunrise sets that have now become one of his most sought after performances. Having played before 3 solar eclipses and at the Pyramids of Giza, Random Rab has created a unique niche for his equally danceable, yet thought-provoking compositions. His current popularity can often be traced to his breakout album, The Elucidation of Sorrow and in particular his first hit, The Riddle and followed up by hits such as Release, Falling Tao, For My Corpse and Apparently. His critically acclaimed current and 10th album Formless Edge, catapulted him into the state of momentum that is now taking hold internationally.
